PHILOSOPHY

We at COBB, feel that good conservation should be based on respecting the existing fabric and making the least possible intervention, maintaining the cultural heritage value.

We believe in ‘honest repair’ meaning that the building should tell its own story and repairs carried out sympathetically should be visible and not falsifying it’s historic legacy.

Repair should not always be subject to concealment and the ultimate aim is to harmonise with modern design to create a pleasing and practical aesthetic to compliment the original fabric.

Services

Sourcing replacement materials to compliment the existing fabric. This commonly includes Paving, Masonry, Lime variants, Structural Timber or Lath, Cotswold Stone and Cedar Shingle Roof Coverings. Plus, advice on Cobb or Haired Harling Render & Lime Plaster applications and manufacture of Blacksmith made fixings.

COBB also can recommend specialist traditional tradesmen to carry out the restoration work to a high standard.
